AS/COA hosted an off-the-record virtual meeting with Alicia Bárcena, the executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Bárcena discussed strategies to alleviate poverty in the region, such as an emergency basic income, and stressed the need for support from the international financial system to counteract the economic downturn during the pandemic.
