Brazil has a full plate in 2014: Carnival, the World Cup, and national elections. This year, presidential, legislative, gubernatorial, and state congress seats are up for grabs during the October 5 vote. To track all of the key dates, AS/COA Online put together a timeline of what’s happening in Brazil this year.


 


Before kicking off the World Cup on June 12, Brazil's political parties will have a different sort of launch. Party conventions are set to begin on June 10 and continue through the end of the month as candidacies are confirmed ahead of the elections. Officially, campaigns begin one week after conventions close, and August will mark the start of presidential debates.
