Colombian President Álvaro Uribe Honors AS/COA President Susan Segal with the Orden de San Carlos

Colombian President Álvaro Uribe recognized AS/COA President and CEO Susan Segal for her work's crucial economic contributions to Colombia by awarding her the Orden de San Carlos (Order of San Carlos). The award was delivered at the gallery in our New York headquarters, currently showing an exhibition by Colombian photojournalist Fernell Franco.

Americas Society/Council of the Americas would like to thank the Colombian government for honoring AS/COA President and CEO Susan Segal with the Orden de San Carlos (Order of San Carlos). Colombian President Álvaro Uribe delivered the award to Susan Segal on September 22, 2009. The award was delivered in the Americas Society's gallery, where President Uribe toured the exhibition Fernell Franco: Amarrados [Bound] showing the works of Colombian photojournalist Fernell Franco.

In his remarks, President Uribe recognized Susan Segal's crucial economic contributions to Colombia and noted her support has helped boost confidence in the country, thereby helping to attract investment. He also remarked on the importance of AS/COA's annual conference in Bogota, "Colombia in the Eyes of Wall Street," for drawing together high-level public and private sector representatives.

About the Order of San Carlos

Created by the National Government, which instituted a National Order designated  to honor nationals and foreigners, civil and military, whom Colombia wants to distinguish for extroardinary reasons.
