The Colleción Fortabat opened in Buenos Aires on October 22, with the landmark inauguration welcoming the public to view the private collection of Maria Amalian Lacroze de Fortabat in a 6,000-square meter building designed by architect Rafael Viñoly. The collection includes works spanning the art history of Argentina through the 1980s, but also works by artists such as Rodin, Turner, and Warhol. The museum hosts approximately 230 paintings and sculptures selected by a team of curators.

The museum, which stands in Puerto Maduro, is a structure made of concrete, steel, and glass and offers two exhibition halls, a library, an auditorium, and a cafe-restaurant overlooking the river. The roof is made up of a system of mobile parts that open and close depending on the position of the sun.
