A group of experts discussed Americas Quarterly's fifth issue of its Social Inclusion Index, talking about the main barriers for inclusion to be transformed in social policy across the region.

Opening the event, Mari Carmen Aponte, acting assistant secretary for the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, talked about the importance of quantifying social inclusion, saying the Americas Quarterly Index has become a reference point for policymakers in the region. "Instinctively, I know we have much more to do. But the work is now academic, fact-based. There is no excuse," said Aponte.
