Al Jazeera: COA's Farnsworth on Venezuela's Protests

In an interview with Al Jazeera English, Council of the Americas Vice President Eric Farnsworth says that Venezuela’s opposition protests represent "a primal scream…that's been building from some time." Farnsworth explains Leopoldo López—who was arrested on accusations of inciting violence—has emerged as the unofficial leader of the opposition movement, though the next steps for the opposition on the national stage remain unclear. "Whether that comes through the electoral process or whether it comes through some other process...the next election for president of Venezuela won't be for more than two years and I think a lot can happen between now and then," he notes.
