Samantha Pearson

Brazil Correspondent, Wall Street Journal

Samantha Pearson is a correspondent for the Wall Street Journal in Brazil and the former Financial Times correspondent in the country. After graduating from Cambridge University with a double-starred first in modern and medieval languages, she joined the FT in 2008 and won the Jones-Mauthner award in 2012 for international reporting. She has worked in London as the FT's UK retail correspondent and in New York as the U.S. equities correspondent. She joined the WSJ last year and now covers everything from politics to high frequency trading in Brazil. She has also worked for Reuters in São Paulo and written for the Folha de São Paulo newspaper and Veja magazine in Brazil, The Independent and Sunday Times Magazine in the UK, and the Jersualem Post in Israel. She lives in São Paulo with her husband, Raphael, and their son, Thomas.
