Jorge Arbache

Jorge Arbache is the chief economist for Brazil's Ministry of Planning, Budget, and Management. He is also a professor of economics at the Universidade de Brasília. His previous appointments include economic adviser to the president of Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) and senior economist at the World Bank in Washington, DC. He is the author of four books and has published more than eighty articles in academic journals. Arbache has a PhD in economics and a bachelor’s in economics and law. His main research interests currently include sectoral competitiveness, investment, productivity, technology, and commerce.
