Jim Cooper represents Tennessee's fifth congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He has been serving in this position since 2003. Rep. Cooper previously represented Nashville in Tennessee's fourth district from 1983 to 1995. Between his time in Congress, he worked in private business and was a professor at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management. Rep. Cooper currently serves on the Armed Services Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and he has been a leading advocate for immigration reform.
