Gerardo Rodriguez

Gerardo Rodriguez is a managing director and the portfolio manager for Emerging Markets (EM) and China in the Systematic Active Equity group. His responsibilities include the management of equity and fixed income portfolios, the development of EM products, and the oversight of the EM Platform at BlackRock. Rodriguez joined BlackRock in 2013 after more than 14 years in the Mexican Ministry of Finance where he last served as undersecretary of finance and public credit. He has extensive experience in macroeconomic policy, financial market development, and infrastructure investments. As undersecretary, he oversaw the development and regulation of the local financial system and the international affairs of the Ministry of Finance. Before being appointed undersecretary, he worked in the Ministry of Finance as the head of public debt management from 2005 to 2011, where his main responsibilities included the extension of the local yield curve, the design of the cetesdirecto platform, and the creation of the National Infrastructure Fund. Rodriguez earned a BS degree in economics from Universidad de las Americas-Puebla (Mexico) and an MSc in engineering-economic systems and operations research from Stanford University.
