Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a private meeting with the director general for Latin American and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Takahiro Nakamae.

For Latin America, Japan is the second largest trading partner after the United States. Latin America accounts for some 4 percent of Japan's total trade today and may well account for a much larger share in the years to come.

Director General Nakamae will be joining us immediately after traveling to the region and will offer views on Japan's evolving policies toward Latin America in the midst of changing global circumstances.
