Overview

Please join the Council of the Americas Trade Advisory Group for a private, off-the-record breakfast with Ambassador Thomas A. Shannon, counselor of the Department of State. He will discuss U.S. relations with the Pacific Alliance bloc of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru. This conversation will be an excellent opportunity to discuss significant developments in hemispheric trade relations.

Shannon led the U.S. delegation to the Pacific Alliance Leaders’ Summit that took place in Mexico on June 19 and 20. He was appointed counselor of the Department by Secretary of State John Kerry in December 2013, and he previously served as U.S. ambassador to Brazil from 2009 to 2013 and as assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs from 2005 to 2009.
