Overview

Please join the Council of the Americas for a public program with Antônio Henrique Pinheiro, Brazil’s minister of ports. The minister will discuss the main features of the new regulatory framework that offers opportunities for concessions, private terminals, and the National Dredging Program

In June 2013, the Brazilian government approved a new regulatory framework for ports to modernize the port infrastructure and logistics in Brazil. It is expected that the new regime will enhance port efficiency, reduce transaction costs, and attract significant flows of private investment in the ports sector. The authorization of private terminals will be resumed under the new law, which also updated the criteria for public bids and lease agreements of public terminals.
