Overview

This event has been canceled. We will share further updates as they become available.

According to the World Bank Enterprise Surveys, Latin America has seen significant job creation from small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in recent years, yet 36% of these firms have difficulty finding qualified workers to fill vacancies. Jobs are available, but the human capital necessary to fill the positions is not. What can be done? How can workers’ skills be developed to meet the needs of SMEs? How can we ensure that low-income people have access to training that will make them more competitive in the job market and increase their social mobility?

Addressing these questions is important not only for Latin America, but for the global economy; the World Economic Forum has found that global GDP would increase by 20% if workers’ skills were developed to their full potential. With this in mind, AS/COA, the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, and Endeavor are hosting a panel discussion on July 19 focused on best practices for bridging the skills gap in Latin America and across the globe.
