Overview

The Council of the Americas hosted a public discussion with the Brazilian Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha.

The wealth effect, raised expectations of a growing middle class, changing demographics, and the poverty alleviation focus of President Dilma Rousseff's administration have all converged within Brazil’s health sector to amplify existing challenges while also creating new opportunities. Padilha discussed the state of health care in Brazil with an emphasis on the goals and objectives of the Rousseff administration’s efforts over the short and medium terms.
