The House vote to overturn President Obama's immigration actions can hurt immigrants' vital role on 'Main Street'

The new report by AS/COA and the Fiscal Policy Institute found that immigrants are crucial for Main Street businesses, which are key to neighborhood growth and vitality.

 House Republicans, as you probably already know, voted to overturn President Obama’s immigration actions. It was one of the most despicable bills ever passed by Congress.

The bill would end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which has helped over half a million young undocumented people live and work in the U.S. without fear. The House also passed legislation to stop the new program known as Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents (DAPA), which would expand DACA and grant parents of U.S. citizens and permanent residents a work permit and halt their deportation...

Actually, as a new report by Americas Society/Council of the Americas and the Fiscal Policy Institute shows, hatred blinds these elected officials to the point they are intent on depriving the country of millions of its most productive people.

The report, “Bringing Vitality to Main Street,” found that immigrants are crucial for Main Street businesses — grocery stores, restaurants, clothing stores, and other enterprises that are key to neighborhood growth and vitality....
