Colombia's Reintegration Program: Challenges and Opportunities

AS/COA will host Alejandro Eder, director of the Colombian Agency for Reintegration (ACR) at a public presentation on Colombia's peacebuilding experience and reintegration process.

January 24, 2013 - Americas Society and Council of the Americas will host Alejandro Eder, director of the Colombian Agency for Reintegration (ACR) on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Eder will provide an overview of the Colombian experience on peacebuilding, specifically the reintegration process, in a conversation with Aldo Civico, founder and director of the International Institute for Peace.

Alejandro Eder was appointed by President Juan Manuel Santos to be a spokesman for the administration’s reintegration policy, advise on the structuring and development of this initiative, and call on the international community and civil society to support the reintegration and reconciliation process. Eder also worked with the Office of the High Presidential Counselor for Reintegration as a policy advisor. In this role, he contributed to the redesign of Colombia’s community-based reintegration strategy and gave more international exposure to the country’s reintegration process.
