Awards: Gabriel Orozco 

The first Americas Society Cultural Achievement Award was given to the renowned Mexican artist in recognition of his artistic excellence and contribution to contemporary Latin American art.

On recent days, Americas Society granted the first Americas Society Cultural Achievement Award in recognition of the outstanding creativity and talent of central figures in the visual arts of Latin America.

This year the award went to Mexican artist Gabriel Orozco, in recognition of his artistic excellence and contribution to the creation of an artistic language of global reach that emerged from contemporary Latin American art....

As we prepare to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of our organizations in 2015, the creation of the first Americas Society Cultural Achievement Award reaffirms our commitment to showcase and support culture in the hemisphere," said Americas Society and Council of the Americas President and CEO Susan Segal.
