AS/COA Take their Successful Young Professionals of the Americas Network to Miami this Month

AS/COA will launch the Miami chapter of the successful network at a cocktail party on February 5.

Miami, February 4, 2014—Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), the premier organizations dedicated to strengthening inter-American relations, will launch the Miami chapter of their successful Young Professionals of the Americas network (YPA) at a cocktail party on Wednesday, February 5 at Bar 396, Diageo’s private bar in its Coral Gables headquarters.

With the arrival of the YPA in Miami, young professionals there will now have a platform to meet, discuss, and network around a shared interest in Latin America and the Caribbean. A local steering committee will drive monthly YPA events in Miami focused on professional development, innovation, entrepreneurship, as well as economy, politics, and culture of the Americas.

The YPA is an AS/COA initiative launched in 2013 with the purpose of creating a platform where young professionals can find new connections and share ideas, advice, and experiences that span the hemisphere.

"We are thrilled to be launching our dynamic Young Professionals of the Americas group in Miami, following its successful launch in New York in 2013. Miami is such an important gateway city for Latin America, so it is only natural that the YPA should expand its platform there for tomorrow’s leaders to explore the latest trends for our region today," says AS/COA President & CEO Susan Segal.

"We are convening an amazing group of young professionals from diverse backgrounds – bridging business, entrepreneurship, and the arts – and offering an opportunity to connect around ideas," says AS/COA Miami manager and member of YPA internal committee Madeleine Johnson.

YPA’s Miami Steering Committee includes:

  • Maria Cristina Alvarez, Associate, JP Morgan Securities
  • Enrique Conde, Shareholder, International Practice Group, Greenberg Traurig
  • Wifredo (Wifi) Fernandez, CEO & Co-Founder of the LAB Miami
  • Felice Gorordo, CEO of Clearpath and Co-Founder, Roots of Hope
  • Jaclyn Hesse, Business Development Specialist, Latin America, FTI Consulting
  • Daniel Palacios, The Queen’s Flowers Group
  • Andrew Riccio, Associate, Assouline & Berlowe, P.A.

"Diageo has a strong and vibrant business in Latin America with many talented young professionals on our team. We are therefore delighted to be associated with this worthy initiative and we look forward to deepening our relations with the Council of Americas," says Bill Bullard, Director of Corporate Relations for Diageo Latin America and the Caribbean. Diageo is the world’s leading premium beverage alcohol company.
