2016 Lima Conference: Building Peru – The Road to the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

Peru's first vice president, ministers, and business leaders will participate at AS/COA's October 3 conference.

New York, September 30, 2016—Peru has made great strides at achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 by dedicating millions to urban infrastructure and halving the percentage of the population living in slums. However, successful public and private partnerships are key to bolstering this progress in other critical areas.

Americas Society/Council of the Americas, in collaboration with Peru’s Foreign Affairs Ministry and the United Nations Global Compact in Peru, will host its eleventh annual conference in Lima on Monday, October 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. AS/COA’s Lima conference will bring together key government officials and private sector leaders to address how innovation and infrastructure development can stimulate growth, what are the opportunities for investors as well as the challenges that could impede the success of the Sustainable Development Goals. The conference will be webcast live.

Speakers include Martín Vizcarra, First Vice President and Transport and Communications Minister; Ricardo Luna, Minister, Foreign Affairs; Gonzalo Tamayo, Minister, Energy and Mines; Claudia Cooper Fort, Vice Minister of the Economy, Ministry of Economy and Finance; Martin J. Alcalde Pineda, Environmental and Community Manager, Geopark; Francisco Augusto Baertl Montori, President, PetroPeru; Roque Benavides, CEO, Buenaventura; Fernando Bravo, Director for Andean Region, Goldman Sachs; Diego de la Torre, President, United Nations Global Compact in Peru; Jasmin Eymery, Sustainability and Public Affairs Leader for Latam, GE Latin America; Mario Farren, Chief Country Officer, Citibank del Perú; Oscar Rivera, Chairman of the Board of the Peruvian Bank Association (ASBANC), First Vice President of the National Federation of Private Business Institutions; and Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
