2014 Latin American Cities Conferences – Medellin: Lessons from Technology Leaders

Scheduled for June 12, the first AS/COA conference in Medellin will examine the city's advances in technology and innovation.

New York, June 9, 2014—Selected as the world’s “Innovative City of the Year” in 2013 by Citi, the Urban Land Institute, and The Wall Street Journal, Medellin is one of the most vibrant cities in Latin America today and a success story for policymakers worldwide. Partnerships between the public and private sectors have helped modernize Medellin, while fostering social inclusion and innovation in the once crime-ridden capital.

Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA) brings its Latin American Cities Conferences Series to Medellin for the first time on Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. A panel with representatives from leading technology companies will discuss recent cases of technology adaption as well as challenges for innovation in Colombia and Latin America. The conference will be broadcast live.
