On Sunday evening, Mexican President Felipe Calderón conversed with various U.S. specialists in Mexico-United States Relations during a working dinner held at the Reception Hall of the Mexican Residence in Washington.
 
The President exchanged points of view with specialists in issues of interest for bilateral relations such as security, competitiveness, and regional economic development, as well as the foreign policy agenda.
 
Particular attention was paid to expectations of future relations between President Calderón's government and the U.S. government which will be led by Mr. Barack Obama as of January 20.
 
The Mexican President expressed his government's willingness to work increasingly closely with the next U.S. president, in order to advance the most pressing issues on the bilateral agenda.
 
Attendees at the dinner included Sidney Weintraub, Director of the Economic Policy Program of the Center for Strategic and International Studies; Peter Hakim, President of Inter-American Dialogue; Andrew Selee, Director of the Woodrow Wilson Center Mexico Institute; Eric Farnsworth, Vice-president of the Council of the Americas; James Thomas Kolbe, researcher at the German Marshall Fund and former federal legislator; and Demetrios Papademetriou, President of the Migration Policy Institute.
